An Old, Or A Vintage Kitchen SinkVintage kitchen sink is another word for "I got someone else's germs in my kitchen". Now, if you buy a vintage sink, you'd better scrub that sucker, because people just do nasty things in a kitchen. There's rotting food in people's houses, and they don't wash dishes for weeks-on-end. Then they decide to sell their old sink once it gets so beat up that it doesn't hold water and they sell it to you on Craigslist and call it a 'vintage sink'. There you go, you go yourself a vintage kitchen sink. Aren't you glad you went in that direction instead of purchasing a nice new porcelain sink? Why didn't you just call the repair man to come and fix whatever the problem was with your old sink, anyways? He could have shined up the copper on the pipes and made it look like actually did some work on your sink, like they usually do.
Those repair guys like saying jokes like "See my big snake", then they laugh. They always are the ones who bend over and they have that butt crack that makes you want to go, "Hey, Jose, why don't you lose some weight, man, huh?" When he's down under your vintage kitchen sink saying, "I ain't seen one of these babies in a long time." As if your old junk sink might actually have some value, or something. You should say to the guy, "Hey, instead of talking, can you work on the plumbing. Don't I pay you, like, a hundred dollars an hour or some crazy thing?" Just tell him to repair the thing and get his butt crack out of your kitchen. But, there really are old sinks that are nice. Those, you can really call a vintage kitchen sink. Strange enough, the people who yank out those sinks tend not to know, themselves, that the sink is worth much. If you can't afford an actual vintage sink, you can purchase a 'fake' vintage kitchen sink. Nottingham Brass Console Sinks which go for around $500, are nice. They have legs and go in the bathroom. As for a kitchen sink that's 'vintage', there's the Sanford Cast Iron Kitchen Sink with Drain Board and Apron, 43". It goes for $1000 and is a nice antique reproduction sink that's almost exactly like the one that was in my cellar when I was a kid. Classic drain-board kitchen sinks were all the rage, back in the 30s. This one looks like it came right out of Granma's log cabin, you know¡ before she got plumbing, back when you had to poop through a wood hole into really smelly stuff that was in what they called an 'outhouse', although you knew it was just a hole in the ground? And, there would be two holes on the thing, like it was expected that if you were brother and sister you'd enjoy sitting there watching each other go to the bathroom. So, if you want to remember that, and have fond memories, buy the sink. Also called 'reproduction sinks', a vintage kitchen sink will bring you back to your childhood, or beyond. A clawfoot bathtub would go well with that kitchen sink. Just install it next to the sink and you can take a shower at the same time as you're washing the dishes. |
