The Wonder Of Black Kitchen SinksThere's possibly no more elegant solution in a kitchen to install black kitchen sinks. If you also install black marble (or a plastic which mimics black marble), it will look like a Roman Coliseum, like Caesar is about to stand on top of the counter and sing. Kohler's K-5923-4-7 comes in black. This executive chef sink is self-rimming with holes that allow four faucets. There's a deep basin to the left, and a slightly small deeper basin to the right. There's a place for the faucet and offset accessories will accent a curving interior.
It's definitely not a small sink, and is made of cast iron, which is as durable as you can get, better than stainless steel. There's an elegant simplicity to the design, and it's 33" by 22" in size with a basin depth of 10" x 8" The self-rimming four-hole faucet installation will be easy to install. If you're looking for an under mount unit, though, this mounts through a hole in the counter. It goes for around $500, new, which is quite reasonable for such a high-quality cast iron sink. Other manufacturers also make black sinks. The Pegasus AR20MB is an offset Double-Bowl Kitchen sink that goes for less than the Kohler, at $300. There's also American Standard Amrcst Black Kitchen sinks for $300. American standard is a manufacturer of sinks which has been around a long time. They aren't noted for being a manufacturer of high quality sinks, however. If you're purchasing an American Standard sink, it lives up to it's name, meaning that it's "standard". Nobody is going to be going into your kitchen saying, "Wow! Look at that amazing sink! I think I'll go right down to the store and buy one, now." They are purchased because people need that extra $200 for something else and a sink is just a sink, after all. You wash your hands, you wash your dishes, you use the water to wash the floor and you pour the water into the sink and watch it go down the drain. That, after all, is what a sink is really for. People get all huffy about things as if it really matters what kind of sink you have in the world. It doesn't. Sinks are sinks, and advertising makes it sound like if you don't have just the right sink, then WOW your world will fall apart. In reality, you probably will continue to live if you don't own a black sink. However, if you want a sink, and a black sink is not much more than a non-black sink is, I'd pick the black one. Black goes well with any color, and colors "Pop" when they're next to black. One problem with black kitchen sinks is that they tend to show the dirt much worse than a stainless steel sink would. When they get lime buildup on them, the white will dull the gloss black surface, so you'll constantly have to keep it spic-and-span or it will be noticeable. If you want to be constantly cleaning the surface, though; then it will be a beautiful investment which will give a lovely flavor to the kitchen's d¨¦cor. It will become the center of the whole affair, and will be the thing that everybody notices when you first enter the kitchen. If you have black kitchen sinks, they will look beautiful, though. The Pegasus model AR20MB Astracast looks like Granite, and it is an Offset Double Bowl Kitchen Sink. It was designed by some of the best craftsmen which produces kitchen sinks and kitchen accessories. It weights 44 pounds (most sinks are very heavy, but cast iron sinks are far heavier than stainless would be) The assembled height is 24 inches x 24 inches with an assembled width of 35 Inches. |
